VIDEO: Poland and Czech Republic show their fighting spirit

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 10, 2016 – The Central European battle between Poland and the Czech Republic was always going to be a tough test and the video below shows just how much the match meant to the two teams.

“The most important thing today was that my girls showed a lot of character and heart,” said Poland coach Jacek Nawrocki. “They really held it together mentally, because after the first set and during the break between the second and third set it wasn't easy. I'm happy about that. I'm also happy that this match showed we can fight for the victory till the very end. The girls have to know we will not receive any free points from our opponents.”

In the video, both teams fight hard to defend with the match finely balanced at 12-12 in the fourth set as Poland lead two sets to one.

At the end of this long rally, Marie Toufarova, the Czech Republic’s top scorer on the day, unleashes a huge hit that Anna Grejman, Poland’s top scorer in the match, tries to block only to see the ball run out of play.

The point set the Czechs on a great run. They were soon 15-12 ahead and maintained that margin to 21-18 before Poland levelled at 22-22 and stole the match away from their rivals.
Poland won 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23).For more highlights and videos, check
