Fabiana Claudino helped Brazil reclaim the World Grand Prix title after they stunned USA in the final of the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix

Bangkok, Thailand, July 10, 2016 - Brazil defeated USA 3-2 (18 25, 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 15-9) to capture the gold medal in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at the Indoor Stadium Huamark on Sunday.

Brazil coach Jose Roberto Lages Guimaraes: “I’m glad that we won. I’m really proud of my players. They did a very good job. We will work on to improve our weak points to get ready for the Olympic Games. Thank you Thailand for hosting a wonderful tournament. We look forward to coming back here again.”

Brazil captain Fabiana Claudino: “We’re really happy to win the World Grand Prix final match. It’s always tough to play against USA. We still have something to improve and prepare for the Olympic Games. We hope we will continue to do better when we play on home soil.”

USA coach Karch Kiraly: "Congratulations to Brazil. They played a very nice match. We learned very valuable lessons from this match. It's good for us to face strong opponents like Brazil. We will go back home and train harder for the Olympic Games in Rio. We still have some areas that we have to improve on. We exposed our weakness in this match.”

USA captain Christa Harmotto Dietzen: "It's always a great battle when we play against Brazil. We learned a lot from this match. The Brazilian middle blockers were really good. We had to make a series of adjustments in defence. We have to take this lesson when we go back home.”
