Turkey's Onal: We needed the three points today

Turkey celebrated their second win in Long Beach while Germany lost for the second time.

Long Beach, USA, June 18, 2016 – Turkey accomplished their goal of winning all three points with a 3-1 (25-18, 16-23, 25-19, 25-19) victory over European rival Germany on Saturday in Long Beach, California.

Ferhat Akbas, Turkey, coach: I am very happy that we won three points. It was very important for us to win without losing any points. Now we will need to look for the future because we have very important four games and we start to think about going to Bangkok, going to final. We will try our best, we will play against the host, one of the best teams in the world, USA. We will try our best.

Guldeniz Onal, Turkey, captain: It was a really important match after yesterday. We needed three points against Germany and we played better than them today. We are happy. Now we will play against USA. We want to take some points.

Felix Koslowski, Germany, coach: We really deserved to win at least two sets. I think we have to be really angry about ourselves as we never played as aggressive as we wanted to. We just played aggressive and under control in the second set. This is progress and we have to learn, and this is different than against the United States. Today was a different situation and we have to learn.

Denise Hanke, captain, Germany: I think yesterday (v USA) we had really, really no pressure, and today some of the players started to put pressure on themselves. We did not have pressure from the outside because we do not have any pressure in this tournament as we give our best. Yesterday was just pushing, pushing because it was USA. When we play free and play our game and not think so much and give all our aggressive, then it is hard for others to stop us.
