Dominican Republic get presidential seal of approval

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, June 21, 2016 – Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina joined his compatriots in congratulating the women's national team as they swept the gold medal at the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Group 2 Finals in Bulgaria last Sunday.
 
"Thanks for proving new joy to the Dominican people who follow with interest the performances of the team," said Mr Medina in a letter of congratulations.

In the letter to Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, FIVB 1st Executive Vice-President, NORCECA President and president of the Dominican Republic women’s program, the chief of state expressed his congratulations for the triumph.
 
"I want to salute and congratulate each one of the girls, on behalf of the government and personally, for the outstanding effort displayed while obtaining seven consecutive victories in that competition," he stated.
 
President Medina also sent special congratulations to Brayelin Martinez for standing out as the top scorer of the Dominican team.

After losing their first match in five sets to Bulgaria, the Dominican side won seven matches in a row against Argentina, Kenya, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Puerto Rico and Poland. 

The gold medal win in Group 2 earned the Dominican Republic promotion to Group 1 for the 2017 edition of the premier annual women’s volleyball event.
