Shen Jingsi leads the Chinese celebrations

Ningbo, China, June 10, 2016 - China overwhelmed Thailand in straight sets (25-14, 25-14, 25-11) in their opening match of the FIVB World Grand Prix at the Beilun Sport and Art Center on Friday.

China coach Lang Ping - "I had hoped my players would deliver their best game. Thailand is well known for playing a very quick tempo. We had a difficult time in the first set, during which we made many errors. Luckily we gradually took control after taking the first set. But we wasted some good scoring opportunities. That's where we need to improve."

China captain Zeng Chunlei - "I'm happy that we won the game, but our weakness were exposed in some areas as well. I think Thailand are better than us in terms of their tempo. We need to learn from them."

Thailand coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai - "They showed us the best of their game. It seemed our most difficult match against China in recent years - very difficult, very hard. We learned a lot of things from China today. I also want to thank my young players, they tried their best. It's great experience for us."

Thailand captain Pleumjit Thinkaow - "Today it's a great experience for us. China are a strong team and showed us their best performance. We'll fight to play our best in our next games."
