Tickets on sale for World Grand Prix in Bari

Volleyball fans in Bari will have another reason to be happy about as the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix will be staged at the PalaFlorio from June 17 to 19

Bari, Italy, April 6, 2016 – There are three months remaining until the start of competition in Group 1 of the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, which will take place from June 17 to 19 in the city of Bari in the Apulia region.

Bari reopens its doors to the world’s volleyball elite at the PalaFlorio, after being one of the host cities of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014. The host city braces for the much-anticipated matches in Pool F1 on the second week, featuring Netherlands, Russia, Thailand and home side Italy.

This will not be the first time that Apulia will be hosting the World Grand Prix. The premier annual women’s tournament made a stop in Apulia and Basilicata for the final round in 2013, which was held in Andria, Matera and Gioia del Colle. China claimed gold by defeating the Russian squad, which was bannered by the young Ekaterina Gamova. The United States placed third in the podium and were then led by volleyball greats Keba Phipps and Stacy Sykora. Italy finished fifth but libero Paola Cardullo won the Most Valuable Player award in that edition.

Tickets for the event are already on sale at TicketOne and FIPAV Puglia, which is offering some promotion for sports clubs. Any sports club shall be entitled to three free tickets upon the purchase of 12 regular tickets.
