Thailand look to end victory drought

 

Bari, Italy, June 19, 2016 – Thailand have won just one of their four matches so far in this year’s World Grand Prix and will aim to change that against the Netherlands on Sunday.

Head-to-Head
· Netherlands have won all of their four World Grand Prix matches against Thailand. 
· The last time they met at the tournament was in 2010. Netherlands won in straight sets. 
· Only in 2009 Thailand managed to win a set (3-1).
· Thailand's last win against Netherlands at a major tournament was a 3-1 win at the 2010 World Championship.
· Earlier this year, Netherlands defeated Thailand (3-0) at the World Olympic Qualification tournament in Tokyo. 

Netherlands
· Netherlands have won their last World Grand Prix match against Italy (3-1), after they lost the first match in Bari against Russia (3-0). 
· In the first 2016 World Grand Prix weekend in Kaliningrad, Netherlands also lost the first match against Russia but defeated Turkey and Belgium thereafter. 
· Celeste Plak was Netherlands top scorer versus Italy (18), just one point ahead of Lonneke Sloëtjes (17) who has scored a team-high 95 points this World Grand Prix. 

Thailand
· Thailand have lost three of their four 2016 World Grand Prix matches in straight sets, including their last against Russia. They only defeated Germany on 12 June in this span (3-1).
· That win against Germany was their only victory in their last seven World Grand Prix matches.
· Thailand have not played a five-setter since their 3-2 victory over Serbia in their opening match of 2015 (12 matches). 
· Ajcharaporn Kongyot has scored a team-high 61 points at the World Grand Prix, 38 points more than any other player from Thailand.
