Thailand hoping to turn out Russian lights

 

Bari, Italy, June 18, 2016 – Thailand will look for a maiden win over Russia when they meet in Bari, Italy on Saturday in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.

Head-to-Head
· Russia have won all of their nine World Grand Prix against Thailand. 
· Their most recent encounters in the competition came in 2013 (3-0 and 3-2).
· Thailand have only played more matches against Brazil (11) at the World Grand Prix without ever winning than versus Russia.
· Russia have not played more World Grand Prix matches against a specific opponent without losing than against Thailand. 

Thailand
· Thailand's match against Italy was postponed after a blackout.
· Thailand started their World Grand Prix campaign with two defeats against China and United States (both 3-0), but they have won their match against Germany (3-1). 
· Ajcharaporn Kongyot scored a team high 47 points in the first three matches.

Russia
· Russia maintained their unbeaten record at the 2016 World Grand Prix (W4), after beating Netherlands 3-0 on Friday.
· Russia could win their opening five matches of a World Grand Prix campaign for the first time since 2011 when they kicked off with six straight wins.
· Five of Russia's last seven wins at the World Grand Prix came in straight sets.
· Nataliya Goncharova, Russia's top scorer with 73 points, scored a match-high 18 points (14 spikes) in their 3-0 win over Netherlands.
