Ningbo, China, June 12, 2016 - Thailand overcame an early scare to beat Germany 3-1 (16-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-16) in the FIVB World Grand Prix at the Beilun Sport and Art Center on Sunday. Coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai said this victory will boost his team's confidence ahead of the upcoming matches.
Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, coach of Thailand: Thanks to Team Germany for trying to do their best. Although Germany are a young team, they have caused a lot of trouble to my players. For us, this win is very important. It will boost our confidence for the next week. I hope we will be better and better in the upcoming two weeks.
Felix Koslowski, coach of Germany: It was a really exciting match. It's always exciting to see this style of volleyball - great combination, fast game. The match was really a hard job for us. We served very good in the first set. But from second set, Thailand improved in defence, changed a little bit in style. We don't have much experience, so we couldn't make a change accordingly.
Thinkaow Pleumjit, captain of Thailand: We're really happy to win the game. German players are tall and powerful. They had good defence today. It's a difficult game for us.
Denise Hanke, captain of Germany: We had fun to play Thailand. It's different volleyball for us. Asian style, very fast, a lot of combinations. We can learn from this match. I hope we can become better and better.
