Germans aim to stop the rot against Turkey

 

Long Beach, California, June 18, 2016 – Germany are aiming for a first win in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix when they meet Turkey in Long Beach on Saturday.

Head-to-Head
· Turkey and Germany have met five times at the World Grand Prix. Turkey have won twice and lost three times.
· No team has won consecutive encounters with their opponents in this run. 
· Their most recent meeting at the World Grand Prix came in 2015: Germany won in five sets. It was the only of those five matches which did not finish in a 3-1 score.
· Turkey and Germany already faced each other in 2016, as Turkey won their meeting at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in January (3-1).

Turkey
· Turkey can win two World Grand Prix matches in a row for the first time this year. 
· They won two in a row in 2015, with the first of those two wins a 3-2 victory against Germany.
· Polen Uslupehlivan has scored 85 points for Turkey at the 2016 World Grand Prix.
· Nursevil Aydinlar has served 11 aces.

Germany
· Germany have yet to win a match at the 2016 World Grand Prix.
· The only year in which they failed to win a match at the World Grand Prix was 1995. 
· Germany have won at least four matches at each of the last four World Grand Prix seasons.
· Louisa Lippmann is Germany's top scorer with 47 points.
