China coach Lang plays down significance of first week success

 

China celebrates the victory over USA

Ningbo, China, June 12, 2016 - China's Zhu Ting top scored for the third successive night as China wrapped up the first weekend of 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix beating the United States 3-1 (25-20, 25-19, 15-25, 25-23) in the FIVB volleyball World Grand Prix here on Sunday night.

Jenny Lang Ping, coach of China: "I hope my players have gained experience from this week's matches. Although we won the pool, the results don't mean much, because this USA team isn't the full-strength squad. Some of their best players, such as their their main setter Alisha Glass didn't play much today. We should not get carried away by the victory."

Karch Kiraly, captain of USA: "Congratulations to China. We always love to play such great teams, which have great coaches and in such a good atmosphere... I know China will get better as the season goes on. I hope our team will get better as well."

Zeng Chunlei, captain of China: "The USA played with consistency today, but I don't think they showed their best level today. The USA are good at keeping their own rhythm and I think we need learn from that."

Christa Harmotto, captain of USA: "Congratulations to China. We always love to play this team. Today we battled hard."
