Brazil aim at three in three in Rio

 

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 11, 2016 - Brazil will try to make it three in three at their home FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 tournament in Rio de Janeiro as they face winless Serbia on Sunday.

Head-to-Head
• Brazil have won all three of their World Grand Prix matches against Serbia.
• Brazil won the last two World Grand Prix meetings with Serbia in straight sets (2013, 2015). In their first encounter in the competition, Brazil needed five sets to beat Serbia.
• Brazil and Cuba (one match) are the only opponents Serbia have never won against at the World Grand Prix. 

Brazil
• Brazil have won their first two matches of the 2016 World Grand Prix - 3-1 against Italy and 3-0 against Japan.
• Brazil have won their opening three matches at the last five editions of the World Grand Prix. In 2010, they last failed to win their first three as Italy proved too strong in the third match (3-1).
• Against Japan, Thaisa Menezes made a comeback in the competition after injury and scored a match-high 19 points.

Serbia
• Serbia have lost their opening two matches of this year's competition - 3-0 against Japan and 3-1 against Italy.
• Serbia also lost their last match of the 2015 edition. They can lose four successive World Grand Prix matches for the first time since a streak of four from 2014-2015.
• Last season, Serbia failed to win their opening three matches. Their first win that year came in the fourth match against Turkey (3-1).
• Jovana Brakocevic scored most points for her team in both two matches at the 2016 World Grand Prix. She scored 18 points against Japan and 15 points against Italy.
• Jovana Stevanovic served up four aces against Italy.
