Peru ready to host weekend of action in World Grand Prix

 

Peru won their first three matches in the World Grand Prix

 Lausanne, Switzerland, June 6, 2016 – The 24th edition of the FIVB World Grand Prix is under way and for the third straight year Peru will host a weekend of volleyball for this major tournament.

Peru are in Group 3 and will host Algeria, Croatia, and Cuba in Chiclayo where the teams will play as part of Group Q from June 10 to 12.

Division 3 of the World Grand Prix features Mauro Marasciulo’s Peru, Algeria, Australia, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Kazakhstan and Mexico. 

The first weekend of the Preliminary Round was played from June 3 to 5 in Algeria and Australia. The second round will be held June 10-12 in Peru and Colombia. In the third weekend of June, the top three teams in the ranking will play the Final Four in Kazakhstan. The champions will move up to the World Grand Prix’s Group 2.

Peru beat Algeria, Kazakhstan and Mexico during the first weekend of the tournament.

Chiclayo Coliseum is owned by the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) and has a capacity of 5,000. It staged the Women’s World Volleyball Championship in 1982.
