Marichev admires Thailand's good technique

Marichev praipraised Thailand for having good technique against them in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals

Bangkok, Thailand, July 8, 2016 – Russia knocked Thailand out of the semifinals race when they recorded a 3-0 (27-25, 26-24, 25-19) win in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals at Indoor Stadium Huamark on Friday.

Russia coach Yury Marichev: “As a coach, I truly admire the Thai team. They have very good technique and they are very active. It was so tough for us to beat them. For the upcoming match against USA, we will prepare more and will not underestimate them.”

Russia captain Ekaterina Kosianenko: “Thailand are a very good team. I’m happy to play against them. They played really well and their defence was very good.”

Thailand coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai: “I would like to congratulate Russia for their victory. Both teams played really well. Thanks to the Thai fans who cheered for us. Russia have planned their tactics very well. I would also like to give credit to Nataliya Goncharova of the Russian team, she was the scoring machine of the team. We tried to play our best according to our game plan but we were not successful. It was a pity in the first and second sets, we had a chance to beat them but we couldn’t do it. I think today is a good match for the young players to learn the tactics because both teams are very capable. The young Thai players have to learn a lot from today’s match to prepare them in being key players in the future. We still have two more days to prepare and recover for our match against China. I think it’s going to be tough but we will do our best.”

Thailand player Nootsara Tomkom: “I would like to commend Russia for putting their best effort. Both teams played really well and showed good fighting spirit. We wanted to play our best in front of our home fans. The spectators expected to see an amazing match like this. We will try to adjust our style and make a game plan for our game against China. We will try to do our best.”
