Colombia ready for World Grand Prix Pool C3

Host team Colombia participate in the event launch

Cali, Colombia, June 9, 2016 - The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix visits the Colombian city of Cali for the first time this weekend. Hosts Colombia will take on Mexico, Australia and Kazakhstan in Group 3 week 2 starting on Saturday.

Colombia are in their second season in the premier annual competition for women's national teams. They claimed one victory in three matches in Bendigo last week, against hosts Australia. Australia begin the second week of World Grand Prix Group 3 on the back of three defeats against Colombia, Cuba and Croatia, claiming just one set against Cuba.

Mexico also lost their three matches in week 1 against Algeria, Peru and Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan had a more successful weekend in Algeria, claiming two victories.

The matches in Cali were preceded by an event in the city's main shopping area launching the tournament. The Colombian players also distributed flyers inviting people to the stadium.

Kazakhstan are the most experienced team at the tournament in Cali as they are taking part in their seventh World Grand Prix since their debut in 2007. Australia and Mexico are participating in the competition for the third time.
