Our Olympic disappointment is behind us - Guillaume

Colombia made a perfect start against Australia in Bendigo

Bendigo, Victoria, June 3, 2016 - Colombian coach Eduardo Guillaume said his team had shown it had successfully put the disappointment of missing the Olympics behind it, while Australian coach Shannon Winzer said her team’s passing game was disappointing.

Colombia coach Eduardo Guillaume: “The team played well, they played together. We talked yesterday about the Olympic qualification, which was hard for us, but we forgot that and played well tonight.”

Australia coach Shannon Winzer: “When we were able to execute our game plan, get the pass in and play the speed we wanted to play, we won the points. We struggled with our pass and that affected our offence. It is tough to be a team when you don’t have the pass.”

Colombia captain Maria Alejandra Marin: “We knew what we had to do. The team has been together for about one month now, and the team is working well now.”

Australia captain Shae Sloane: “I think it’s a little bit disappointing from our point of view, I think we all think we could have done a bit better. We need to go back and not worry about this game, and look forward to the next one. I don’t think we were quite ready for what they brought, which is a bit disappointing for us.”
