Cali, Colombia, June 11, 2016 - On the second day of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 Group 3 tournament in Colombia, Mexico and Kazakhstan will meet for the third time in the competition following a two victories for the AVC side in their head-to-head so far.
Head-to-Head
• Mexico and Kazakhstan have met twice at the World Grand Prix. Kazakhstan won both matches, in 2014 in straight sets and last week on 5 June by a 3-1 score.
• These teams also met at the 2014 World Championship. Kazakhstan also won that match (3-0).
Mexico
• After winning the opener at the 2016 World Grand Prix against Algeria (3-0), Mexico failed to win any of their following three matches, including a 3-0 defeat to Colombia on Friday.
• Mexico can lose four successive matches at the World Grand Prix for the second time. Last year they failed to win in their first four matches before winning the last two.
• Lizbeth Sainz is Mexico's top scorer this tournament with 42 points. She scored nine points against Colombia.
• Freda Maria Lopez Olmos is currently the best digger in Group 3 of the competition with most digs (48) and the best average per set (3.69).
Kazakhstan
• Kazakhstan recorded a third successive win in this year's competition by beating Australia 3-0 on Friday.
• They could win four consecutive World Grand Prix matches in a row for the first time.
• Kazakhstan can win four matches at a single edition of the World Grand Prix for the first time.
• Radmila Beresneva has made a total of 32 digs, second-most in Group 3 behind Mexican Freda Maria Lopez Olmos (48).
• Kazakhstan currently have the best setter in Group 3 of the competition with Irina Lukomskaya (6.21 average per set).
