Cuba and Colombia looking for second win in Bendigo

 

Bendigo, Australia, June 4, 2016 - Cuba and Colombia, each with a 1-1 win-loss record, will face each other on the third day of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 tournament in Australia in a Latin American clash and the winner will most likely finish second in this three-day event in Bendigo.

Head-to-Head
• Cuba and Colombia have met once at the World Grand Prix. In 2015, Colombia proved too strong as they won by 3-1.
• Cuba have lost their last nine World Grand Prix matches against CSV sides. Their last victory came in 2012 when they defeated Argentina in straight sets.
• Colombia have won both previous World Grand Prix encounters against NORCECA sides as they won against Mexico (3-0) and Cuba (3-1).

Cuba
• Cuba bounced back from a defeat against Croatia to defeat Australia 3-1.
• This was Cuba's first win after three successive defeats at the World Grand Prix.
• Cuba can now win two World Grand Prix matches in a row for the first time since two in 2015, when they won against Australia and Algeria.
• Sulian Caridad Matienzo Linares is Cuba's top scorer with 33 points in their two matches at the 2016 World Grand Prix. 

Colombia
• Colombia suffered their first defeat at the 2016 World Grand Prix against Croatia (3-0).
• The Colombians have never lost two World Grand Prix matches in a row since making their debut last year.
• Seven of Colombia's last eight matches in major competitions have ended in straight sets (W3-L4). The other score was a 3-1 win against Chile at the 2016 South American Olympic Qualifying tournament in January.
