Croatia hope to continue winning streak

 

Chiclayo, Peru, June 9, 2016 - Croatia will try to repeat their victory over Cuba in Australia last week as the two sides meet again at the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 tournament starting in Peru.

Head-to-Head
• Last week on 3 June, Croatia and Cuba met for the first time at the World Grand Prix. Croatia won 3-1. 
• Croatia have lost their only other World Grand Prix encounter with a NORCECA side at the World Grand Prix as they were defeated by Puerto Rico in 2015 (3-1). 
• Cuba's last win against a CEV side at the World Grand Prix was in 2012 against Serbia (3-0). They have lost their last nine encounters with CEV teams.
• These teams also met at the 2000 Olympic Games. In the quarterfinals Cuba proved too strong as they won in straight sets.

Croatia
• Croatia won all of their three matches in Pool B3 and are now leading Group 3 along with Peru, as they won all matches in Pool A3. 
• Croatia could equal their record of four consecutive wins at the World Grand Prix, which they set on their debut in 2014.  
• Samanta Fabris has had the highest spike success rate (61.11%) of all players in Group 3. She scored 55 spikes out of 90 attempts.
• Both Ana Grbac and Mira Topic have scored six aces, which is a tournament high in Group 3.

Cuba
• Cuba won their last two World Grand Prix matches and can win three in a row for the first time since a run of four in 2011-2012.
• Cuba can win at least three matches at consecutive World Grand Prix editions for the first time since 2004-2008. Last year, they won three of their six matches.  
• Cuba have scored most points of all teams in Group 3 (270) but have also conceded most (276).
• Sulian Caridad Matienzo Linares has scored 41 points which makes her Cuba's top scorer at this tournament.
