Captain Beresneva gives Kazakhstan their second victory of the weekend

Radmila Beresneva celebrates together with teammates after Kazakhstan's fourth victory in five matches

Cali, Colombia, June, 11, 2016 - Radmila Beresneva led Kazakhstan to an important victory over Mexico by 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 26-28, 25-20) on Saturday, top scoring with 22 points, putting her team on top of the Pool C3 table with six points.

After dropping the opening two sets and trailing in the third, the Mexican team mounted an exciting comeback, but snatching one set was all they were capable of on Saturday as Kazakhstan have now won four consecutive World Grand Prix matches in a row for the first time.

Both teams started well, taking control of the scoreboard by turns, but thanks to Bibiana Candelas' spikes, Mexico led in the final stages of the opener. However, five points from Irina Shenberger initiated Kazakhstan's comeback, which allowed them to win the set, 25-20.

The second part showed a better performance from Kazakhstan, leading the game from the beginning with captain Radmila Beresneva and Yekaterina Zhdanova dominating the proceedings. Mexico looked to shorten the gap by Lizbeth Sainz' hands, but the Asians kept their blocking game on point and snatched the set, 25-18.

The game continued tied in the third chapter, with Beresneva being the key player for Kazakhstan and the pair Sainz-Carranza hitting hard for Mexico. When the match seemed to be nearing the end, Carranza finished a fantastic rally to tie the set at 23-all, and led her team to a final victory by 28-26.

Lyudmila Anarbayeba pushed Kazakhstan to recover in the following set, but Carranza continued her impressive form to fight for Mexico. In the end, it was Kazakhstan's captain Beresneva who took on the responsibility to push her team to a final victory. Thanks to her unstoppable attack Kazakhstan finished the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.

Beresneva was the match's most impressive player finishing the night with 22 points, including 20 from spikes. On the other side of the net, Sainz and Carranza shared the glory with 15 points each.
