Australia with another tough task ahead

 

Cali, Colombia, June 11, 2016 - The home side Colombia are hoping to add a victory to their FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 record on Saturday when they meet Australia, a team that never won a victory in 18 Grand Prix matches played.

Head-to-Head
• Colombia and Australia have had two previous encounters at the World Grand Prix with Colombia winning both.
• At the 2015 World Grand Prix, Colombia won in straight sets and last week they also won 3-0. Australia scored only 43 points in that last match against 75 for Colombia. 
• Colombia have won all of their three matches against AVC sides in straight sets.  

Colombia
• Colombia recorded their second win at this year's World Grand Prix by beating Mexico 3-0. They also won their opening match against Australia (3-0), but failed to win their second and third match.
• In Colombia's only previous participation in 2015, they lost only two matches while they won six.
• Moreno Pino Kenny scored 17 points against Mexico, most of all players.
• Madelaynne Montaño has scored a team-high 60 points this tournament: the most capped player of the squad scored 51 spikes, six blocks and three aces. 
• Only Peru's Angela Leyva (90) and Croatia's Samanta Fabris (82) have scored more points than Montaño (60) in Group 3 of this year's competition.

Australia
• Australia are looking for their first World Grand Prix win. They have played a total of 18 World Grand Prix matches without a single victory.
• Australia have won the opening set at the World Grand Prix only once. Last year, they won the first set against Kenya by 25-18 but Kenya won the match in four sets.
• Eliza (Karley) Hynes scored a team high 50 points this tournament, including 43 spikes.
• Only Peru's Angela Leyva (90), Croatia's Samanta Fabris (82) and Colombia's Madelaynne Montaño (60) have scored more points than Hynes (50) in Group 3 of this year's competition.
