Bendigo, Australia, June 2, 2016 - Australia will open their FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 campaign at home with a match against Colombia. The South Americans won their only encounter so far in the competition a year ago and now the Australians will be looking for revenge.
Head-to-Head
• Australia and Colombia have met once: in group 3 of the 2015 World Grand Prix, Colombia won in straight sets.
• Australia have lost their last three encounters with CSV sides (twice Brazil, once Colombia).
• Colombia have played once against an AVC side at the World Grand Prix. They defeated Kazakhstan in straight sets in 2015.
Australia
• Australia will participate for the third time at the World Grand Prix, after 2014 and 2015.
• They finished 27th at their debut in 2014 and improved to 24th at their second participation.
• Australia is looking for their first ever win at the World Grand Prix.
• Every other female team that competed at the World Grand Prix have won at least one match..
• Australia won their opening set in the Group 3 Final Four semifinals against Kenya last season. This was the first and so far only time they won the opening set in a World Grand Prix match.
Colombia
• Colombia will participate in their second World Grand Prix after making their debut last year.
• Colombia finished 23rd in that only participation. They finished first in Group 3, but were eliminated in the Final Four semifinals by Peru (3-0).
• Colombia won six of their eight matches at the World Grand Prix (75%). Only Brazil (81%) have won more percent of their World Grand Prix matches.
