Algeria hope to make amends for three losses to Mexico

 

Algiers, Algeria, June 2, 2016 - Algeria have lost all three of their FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix matches against Mexico so far, but hope to make amends in front of their home crowd as they open their 2016 campaign on Friday.

Head-to-Head
• Algeria and Mexico have met three times at the World Grand Prix. 
• Mexico has won all three matches: the first one in straight sets, than by 3-1 and the last one at the 2015 World Grand Prix by 3-2.
• Algeria's last meeting with a NORCECA side was at the World Olympic Qualification tournament last May. Puerto Rico proved too strong in straight sets.
• Mexico has played six matches against CAVB sides at the World Grand Prix, winning three and losing three.

Algeria
• Algeria will participate at the World Grand Prix for the fourth time, as they have competed at the last three editions of the World Grand Prix.
• Algeria's best result came in their debut season in 2013 when they finished in 20th place.
• Algeria's last three matches at the World Grand Prix became five-setters. They won against Australia but both Mexico and Kenya proved too strong.

Mexico
• Mexico will participate for the third time at the World Grand Prix, after 2014 and 2015. They became 26th at their debut and in 2015 they finished 28th and last.
• Mexico won their last two matches at the World Grand Prix against Algeria (3-2) and Australia (3-1). They are currently enjoying their best streak ever in this competition.
• At both previous tournaments, Mexico lost their first match. In 2014 Kenya won 3-1 and in 2015 Colombia won in straight sets.
