WGP: Tomsia continues scoring spree in Group 2

 

Berenika Tomsia scored 31 points against Argentina and was the top scorer in the World Grand Prix on June 10

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 15, 2016 - Poland's Berenika Tomsia remains the top scorer in FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Group 2 as her team prepare to take on Bulgaria, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic in the Group 2 Finals in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on Saturday and Sunday.

After scoring a total of 67 points over the first weekend of play (23 points against Canada, 15 points against the Czech Republic and 29 points in her team's five set defeat to Puerto Rico), she scored another 47 points in the second week (31 points in her team's victory against Argentina and 16 in their loss to Puerto Rico).

Tomsia leads the Group 2 scoreboard with 25 points more than Karina Ocasia of Puerto Rico and 27 points more than Brayelin Martinez of the Dominican Republic. The top scorer in Group 3 is currently Peru's Angela Leyva on 144 points. After just one week of play, Lonneke Slöetjes of the Netherlands leads the scorers in Group 1 with 68 points.

Poland take on Final Four hosts Bulgaria in the Group 2 semifinals on Saturday.
