Włocławek, Poland, June 10, 2016 – Berenika Tomsia continued on with her superb scoring exploits with a joint FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 record of 31 points in Poland's victory over Argentina 3-2 (25-23,  24-26, 25-25, 23-25, 15-10) on the first day of the World Grand Prix Group 2 second weekend in Poland.

Tomsia, who scored 67 points over three matches in last week's opening round, equalled Andrea Levy's 31 points for Peru against Kazakhstan also last week.

A great atmosphere accompanied the second match in Wloclawek and not surprisingly, the organizers’ Most Impressive Player title went to the hands of Tomsia. On the Argentinian side Josefina Fernandez and the team captain Emilce Sosa added the most points to their team’s score (17 and 15 respectively).

Team Argentina opened the game with some good rallies and used the mistakes on Polish side to gain a four point advantage on the first technical time-out. After a short break, Joanna Wolosz started setting to Berenika Tomsia on the right wing, she responded with powerful kills and Poles edged ahead 12-10. Julieta Buzcano put pressure with her serve, but Poland’s defense presented high-level skills. Coach Jacek Nawrocki decided to take a break at 18-18, after the rivals managed to defeat Polish block twice. An eye for an eye battle in the end of the first set was won 25-23 by the Poles after a serve error from Sol Piccolo.

Poland managed to get to the front from the beginning of the second part (8-3). Their opponents shortened the distance to one point, but an individual block of Kamila Ganszczyk saved the comfortable advantage 11-8. The ups and downs of both teams resulted in a tight score in the last stage of this part of the game. Argentinians stayed more focused till the end and tied the score in sets after an unsuccessful Polish block.

The White-Reds showed up on the court highly-motivated and built up a five-point lead at 11-6. A smart dink of Joanna Wołosz cheered up the crowd gathered in the Champions Hall. The best scorer of team Argentina, Josefina Fernandez, had problems with finalising the attacks and their rivals were on the straight way to gain another set on their account. The final rally ended at 25-15 with an atomic spike by Berenika Tomsia.
