Nawrocki: Keeping focus and not underestimating the opponent were key

Coach Nawrocki had a long list of players to compliment after today's match against Kenya

Wloclawek, Poland, June 11, 2016 - With their 3-0 win over Kenya, Poland has now secured a spot in next week's Final Four in Bulgaria.

Jacek Nawrocki, Poland, coach: Keeping focus and not underestimating the opponent were the key things for us today. I think my players showed these from the beginning to the end of the match and claimed a steady win. It is very important that the whole fourteen could play and we have got a real team. I am happy with Tamara Kaliszuk’s performance, despite the fact she was “frozen” on the bench in last two matches. Also Marlena Pleśnierowicz on set and Malwina Smarzek on spike played very well. I could list all my players' names here today.

David Lungaho. Kenya, coach: Poland had a very strong serve which we couldn’t receive well, they just played very good - even the young players. I believe Poland will come back to the top teams in the world very soon. I appreciated a chance to play against them. We did our best, but we didn’t have good reception. We hope that tomorrow’s match will be the one which we can win, we have played with Argentina several times. I  am sure that with good reception we can achieve a better result.

Joanna Wolosz, Poland, captain:
I am very happy that we won this match in straight sets, we played our game. We played with the same line-up during the tournament in Zielona Gora last week and the first match here, but our coach wants to have all players ready and this is the reason for the rotation in our team. Especially, that now we have booked a spot in the Final Four and there we will have some tough matches, so it good that all girls had a chance to play here.

Esther Wangeci, Kenya, player:
It was a tough much, we wanted to play our best, because we knew that Poland is a very strong team - it was our goal to play well here. Poland has great supporters, they are very cheerful and nice and it is a pleasure to be here. We need to improve our reception and attack for tomorrow’s match.

Malwina Smarzek, Poland, player:
We found our rhythm today. The plan was executed in three sets, we kept a good score and I was playing well. I am happy with my game, but even happier about my teammates’ performance. Coach Nawrocki has trusted me, gave a chance to show my best and I think I used my chance well.
