Kenya and Puerto Rico on different kind of streaks

 

Wroclawek, Poland, June 9, 2016 - Two sides on the opposite sides of success at the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 so far will open the Group 2 tournament in Poland on Friday. Puerto Rico, with three wins last week, and Kenya, with three losses, face each other in Wroclawek.

Head-to-Head
• Kenya and Puerto Rico will meet for the first time at the World Grand Prix.
• Earlier this year, on 22 May, Kenya and Puerto Rico clashed in the Olympic Qualification Tournament. Puerto Rico won in straight sets.
• These teams also met twice at the World Championship, where Puerto Rico won 3-1 in 2002 and 3-0 in 2010.

Kenya
• Kenya have lost all three of their World Grand Prix matches by a 3-0 score line this season. 
• Kenya's last win at the World Grand Prix was their final match of 2015 when they beat Peru 3-1.
• Their streak of three consecutive losses is already a team record.
• Kenya have won three of their four World Grand Prix matches against NORCECA teams, only losing to Dominican Republic earlier this season (5 June). 

Puerto Rico
• Puerto Rico are on a three-match winning streak at the World Grand Prix.
• Only once before did Puerto Rico set a longer streak of consecutive wins: six in 2014
• Puerto Rico's last loss at the World Grand Prix was their final match of 2015: 3-1 to Czech Republic. 
• This will be Puerto Rico's first World Grand Prix match against a CAVB team.
