Dominicans and Canadians on different kinds of streaks

 

Olomouc, Czechia, June 11, 2016 - The Dominican Republic and Canada are ne different kinds of streaks on the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix before they face each other for the first time in the competition.

Head-to-Head
• Dominican Republic and Canada will meet for the first time at the World Grand Prix. 
• Earlier this year, on 8 January 2016, these teams met in a Olympic Qualification match. Dominican Republic beat Canada 3-1. 
• Last year Dominican Republic also beat Canada 3-1 in the semifinals of the 2015 NORCECA Championships. They went on to lose the final to United States (3-1). 

Dominican Republic
• Dominican Republic are on a three-match winning streak at the World Grand Prix. This equals their longest run in the competition, set in the last two matches of 2011 and the first match of 2012.
• This is the first time Dominican Republic have won three straight matches within a single World Grand Prix season.
• For the first time ever, Dominican Republic have won consecutive matches in straight sets at the World Grand Prix.
• Dominican Republic had lost 15 straight World Grand Prix matches prior to this streak.

Canada
• Canada are on a six-match losing streak at the World Grand Prix since a 3-1 win over Argentina on 10 July 2015. 
• Canada's record losing streak is in the competition is nine, registered in their first nine World Grand Prix matches (2003-2014).
• Canada have lost three consecutive matches in straight sets for the first time at the World Grand Prix.
• Canada have won four matches at the World Grand Prix, but none against a NORCECA team.
