Another tough opponent for Kenya

 

Tucuman, Argentina, June 5, 2016 - Kenya have not achieved their first victory in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 yet, but Sunday's game against the Dominican Republic in Argentina presents another difficult challenge for the African side.

Head-to-Head
• Dominican Republic have won the four encounters with Kenya at major tournaments.
• Their most recent encounter, at the 2015 World Cup, ended in a 3-0 win for Dominican Republic.
• This is Dominican Republic's second match against an African team at the World Grand Prix after their 3-0 against Algeria in 2013.
• Kenya have faced one NORCECA team at the World Grand Prix, Mexico, winning all three matches against them in 2014 (3-1) and 2015 (3-2, 3-0).

Dominican Republic
• Dominican Republic ended a run of 15 defeats at the World Grand Prix with a 3-2 win against Argentina.
• Dominican Republic can now win two matches in a row at the World Grand Prix for the first time since successive wins against Italy and Algeria in 2013.
• They have played two five-set matches in a row. The last time they played three consecutive World Grand Prix matches that needed a fifth set, was in 2013 against Bulgaria (won, Turkey (lost) and Italy (won).
• Brayelin Elizabeth Martinez has scored 25 points in each of her two matches at the 2016 World Grand Prix.
 
Kenya
• Kenya can claim their first win at the 2016 World Grand Prix. It would be their 10th win in total at the World Grand Prix.
• They could lose three World Grand Prix matches in a row for the first time.
• Kenya can claim a fifth win in their 10th match in major competitions this year.
• Brackcides Khadambi is Kenya's top scorer after two matches at the 2016 World Grand Prix with 23 points.
