Overview

Team profile

Canada’s run in 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Group 2 ended with the North American side claiming 18th place overall, one place higher than in 2014 when they returned to the competition for the first time since 2003. On that occasion they were equal 11th. At the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championship, the Canadians finished equal 17th. Despite winning their opening fixture against Cameroon, defeats in their remaining four matches saw them finish fifth in their pool.

Canada have competed eight times at the World Championships and their best results were 11th-place finishes in 1974 and 1982. They have won two silver medals and eight bronzes at the NORCECA Championships and also took bronze at the 1995 Pan American Games. At the 2013 NORCECA Championships, they took fourth place. A loss in straight sets to USA in their semifinal pitted them against Puerto Rico in the third-place match, where they suffered the same result.
