USA women retain top position in World Ranking

 

USA are still world No.1 in the FIVB World Ranking - Women

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 15, 2016 – The women’s FIVB World Ranking has been updated, following the conclusion of the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, with the United States retaining its stronghold in the top spot.
USA, which finished second in the World Grand Prix earned 45 points to keep their reign as the No.1 ranked team in the world, while World Grand Prix winners Brazil moved up to the second spot, moving ahead of China, which dropped one spot as world No.3.

The Russian team, which placed fourth in the World Grand Prix, retained their position at No.4. The fast-rising Dutch side jumped four places higher from No.15 to No.11, while Australia had the biggest drop in the ranking from No.40 to No.44.

Thailand remained at No.14, and then Japan, Serbia, Dominican Republic, Italy, Korea and Turkey are still in the top 10.

Continental Championship rankings have not been factored into the new senior women's world ranking, following a decision by the FIVB Board of Administration.
