It was important to win this game: Brazil coach Guimaraes

Ankara, Turkey, June 25, 2016 - Brazil beat Turkey 3-1 (13-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-18) in their FIVB World Grand Prix match on Saturday, defeating Belgium for the fifth successive time in the World Grand Prix.

Jaqueline, Brazil: “It was a good game for our team. We did not play well in the first set but we were able to recover and I liked our fight to achieve that.”

Jose Roerto Guimaraes, Brazil, coach: “It was important to win this game and qualify for the finals. We were able to use more players and it was a good thing because we will need all players in the finals. Also we started to play better after the first set.”

Charlotte Leys, Belgium, captain: "I think we started the match amazingly with good serves and defence. We made it 9-0 and Brazil could not answer our serves. After the first set, Brazil proved why they are the Olympic champions. They know how to stay calm in difficult moments. We could not overcome their pressure.”

Gert Vande Broek, Belgium, coach: ”I’m satisfied because of my team's great game. I think we proved that we deserved to be in this Group with the performance of my team. First set was a surprising one for us, for everyone; 9-0 was an amazing run. After the first set Brazil showed us their other face. They played a little more agressively. That's why they are Olympic champions.”
