Hong Kong, China, May 3, 2016 – The Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China (VBAHK) revealed the details of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix in a press conference on Monday.

The event organiser announced that the Hawk-Eye system will be introduced for the first time when the World Grand Prix returns to the Hong Kong Coliseum this year on June 24 to 26.

“The matches in Hong Kong will be equipped with Challenge System again," VBAHK president Wilfred Ng said. "This year we have opted for the top-of-the-line Hawk-Eye system to ensure smooth and fair matches."

Four teams will compete in the Hong Kong leg, including home favourites China, defending champions USA, 11th-ranked Germany and 14th-ranked the Netherlands.

Former China women’s national team players Sun Yue and Qiu Aihua have been appointed as event ambassadors to promote volleyball across Hong Kong.

To enhance community involvement, VBAHK recently hosted a cheering team audition to all secondary schools in Hong Kong. Seven teams were selected as the tournament’s official cheering teams after two rounds of audition. They will lead the audience to cheer for their teams, which will create a great atmosphere during the event.
