Miroslav: The risk paid off

Croatia celebrate victory over Algeria

Chiclayo, Perú, June 11, 2016 - Croatia took a risk playing with young players, but managed to pull off a straight-set win over Algeria thus securing a place in the Group 3 Final Four in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Aksentijevic Miroslav, Croatia, coach:  I used young players to give them a chance to feel what it is like to play under pressure, some of them also have health issues but for us it was important to win this game with a young team. I know it looks like a risk but I knew this team could play well against Algeria. And about Peru, I’m sure people will enjoy our match tomorrow, my players are going to do their best and we promise it will be a good spectacle.

Mohamed Amin, Algeria, coach: We need to prepare for the future of the team because they’re young players and our objective is that this team could get more confidence and do better for the African Volleyball Championship 2017.

Karla Klaric, Croatia, player: This was a very important victory for us because we want to continue at the top of the group, the coach decided to put the team B and I'm really happy because all the young players had the opportunity to play. Tomorrow it is going to be a nice game because we’re going to play Peru in front of their crowd and I think that if we do our best and follow the indications of our coach, we’ll win tomorrow, that’s our goal.

Boukhima Safia, Algeria, captain: We did our best, most of the players are very young, some are new in the team, also we need to practice more because we didn’t have enough time to do it and we hope not to repeat the mistakes that we made.
