Coach Jacek Nawrocki instructs Poland's team during time-out
Varna, Bulgaria, June 18, 2016 - While great blocking was fundamental in the second Group 2 semifinal of FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 in Varna, where Poland mastered a 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-21) victory over Bulgaria, the home team’s weak serving was blamed for the loss.
Jacek Nawrocki, coach of Poland: “I am very happy because we qualified for the final with the Dominican Republic. This match was very difficult because Bulgaria is a difficult opponent. We are very happy and hope that we will achieve the same result tomorrow.”
Ivan Dimitrov, coach of Bulgaria: “We made many mistakes. We had weak serves which influenced the outcome of the game. It is also sad because two of our players are leaving the team after this tournament. I hope that the girls will play better tomorrow and will show us higher level.”
Joanna Wolosz, captain of Poland: “I am very happy and satisfied because of the victory today. We have to focus and prepare for the final match against the Dominican Republic tomorrow.”
Eva Yaneva, captain of Bulgaria: “It is sad that we lost in front of our own audience. We did not survive in the match physically and we did not serve well.”
