The Netherlands coach Giovanni Guidetti felt a sigh relief after his team won over China in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals
Bangkok, Thailand, July 7, 2016 – The Netherlands defeated China 3-2 (23-25, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20, 15-8) in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals at Indoor Stadium Huamark on Thursday.
Netherlands coach Giovanni Guidetti: "This was a very tough match. It’s never easy to play against a team like China. I think spectators enjoyed the match. I am very happy for this victory because for us, winning against China is always a great thing because they are one of the top teams. We are hoping to have a chance to get to the semifinals. I want to congratulate my players because they have put a lot of effort today to win this match.”
Netherlands captain Maret Balkestein-Grothues: "We are very happy for this win. It was a great match and the great rallies were good for the spectators. It was good to be on the court with great fighting spirit. I am proud of my team.”
China coach An Jiajie: "It's a pity that we could not win this match. We made a lot of mistakes. Our reception was not good. I hope we will play better in the next match. The next match against the USA will be very tough because they are very strong.”
China captain Hui Ruoqi: "I'm disappointed that we lost this match. Netherlands played very well. I hope we can do much better in the next match."
