Ningbo, China, June 10 2016 - Defending champions USA opened their 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix campaign by beating Germany 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-12) at the Beilun Sport and Art Center on Friday.
Karch Kiraly, USA coach - "It is an honor to play against Germany. Germany is a young team, they have good coach, they will be a good team in the next few years. On our side, we focused on what we can get in this match. This is our first step."
Christa Harmotto Dietzen, USA captain - "Germany is a very young team, we didn't know much before the game. Their outside attack played very well. But, I think we handled it very well."
Felix Koslowski, Germany coach - "Congratulations to the USA. They had a great game, showed us how to play volleyball. Their defence is great, their set after the defence is also great. Defence was the difference between the two teams. I hoped we could improve a bit through the game."
Denise Hanke, Germany captain - "We knew it would be a hard game. We tried our best, we learned a lot from the game and there are good things we also did during the game. I hope we will improve our team through what we learned from the game."
