De Kruijf: Brazil pressured us with their service

Netherlands player Robin De Kruijf said that the Brazilian serve gave their defenders pressure

Bangkok, Thailand, July 9, 2016 – Brazil trounced the Netherlands 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-23) to secure a seat in the final of the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at Indoor Stadium Huamark on Saturday.

Brazil coach Jose Roberto Lages Guimaraes: “I’m very proud of my team. We really played a good match especially in the first two sets. We made a lot of mistakes on reception in the beginning of the third set. It’s very important for us to make it to the finals. Now, we have to wait for the match between USA and Russia. The World Grand Prix tournament is very important for us to prepare us for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.”

Brazil captain Claudino Fabiana: “I’m glad that we won because we had good teamwork today. I think our team has become stronger and better.”

Brazil player Sheilla Castro De Paula Blassioli: “I’m proud of my teammates. Everyone played well. We tried our best to win this match. We’ve learned a lot from every match we played and we’ve improved. We will prepare for the final match.”

Netherlands coach Giovanni Guidetti: “We know Brazil are one of the best teams in the world. We started the match in the way we don’t want to. That is because each one of us was too worried about the captain’s injury. We really hope there will be nothing serious will happen to her, so she can join us in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Besides that, without the captain, we had trouble with the reception. In the third set, we did a little better than the first two sets. We are looking forward to our match tomorrow.”

Netherlands middle blocker Robin De Krujif: "Congratulations to the Brazilian team. They did a great job. That’s what we expected from them. We tried our best but it was tough to play against them. In the first two sets, Brazil put pressure on us with good services. We haven’t played them for a long time, so it’s a good experience for us to play against them. Eventually, in the third set we played better but we couldn’t take advantage when we were leading. We need to improve.”
