Chinese star Zhu Ting signs for VakifBank Istanbul

Zhu was the MVP at last year's World Cup

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 9, 2016 – Turkish League Champions VakifBank Istanbul have signed young Chinese star Zhu Ting.

Zhu, who is 21, was the top scorer at last year’s FIVB World Cup in Japan, where she was named the tournament’s MVP.

Zhu reportedly signed in a deal worth more than $1 million.

VakifBank will be hoping the dynamic outside hitter will help the team to a 10th domestic crown and a third CEV Champions League title.

VakifBank won the Champions League in 2011 and 2013 and were runners-up in 2014 and 2016.

Zhu has developed into one of the world’s top outside hitters and has been carefully nurtured by China coach Lang Ping. She will be a key player for China in the upcoming FIVB World Grand Prix and at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

In addition to last year’s World Cup, she was the MVP at the 2013 FIVB Junior World Championship and at the 2015 Asian Championship.
